With its Acadian roots, Beresford stretches the length of Chaleur Bay to offer the perfect mix of fauna, flora and folklore.
For relaxation, you can enjoy the beach and go for a ride on a Beach-Taxi (pedibike), walk the famous boardwalk and view Beresford’s iconic butterfly – the Maritime Ringlet. For recreation, enjoy the festivals, camping, the Farmers Market, an outdoor theatre and a wide range of activities for the young and the young at heart.

Comfortably nestled at the estuary of the Nepisiguit River, Bathurst is the hub of the Chaleur region.
It’s where you’ll spend the day at the beach and the evening on Main Street enjoying some local brews and great music. Foodies will find themselves right at home in Bathurst, whether they’re looking for fresh seafood, food trucks or cozy restaurants.
If golf is your cup of tea, this East Coast jewel has some of the best greens around. In the summer, you’ll find festivals and green trails within arm’s reach, and in the winter, Bathurst becomes the undisputed snowmobilers’ paradise.
Catch an Acadie-Bathurst Titan hockey game while you’re here and don’t forget to soak up all that famous Chaleur region hospitality.
A short drive south from Bathurst will lead you to the warm and welcoming Mi’gmaq community of the Pabineau First Nation.
Here you will find the Pabineau River, a tributary of the Nepisiguit River, that has historically been known to the Mi’gmaq as “Oasapegel” or “flowing brightly.” This is also the location of the Pabineau Falls – one of the most beautiful natural wonders of northern New Brunswick – as well as Oasapegel Heritage Park and its natural beauty.
Be sure to join the festivities in early July, when the community hosts their annual Pow-wow. Don’t forget to drop by the Pabineau Seafood Restaurant, where their fresh lobster rolls are a favourite of locals and tourists alike.
Surrounding the different municipalities of the Chaleur Region are the Local Service Districts. This is where you’ll find the hidden gems of the region, such as the historical Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail.
Breathtaking views along Route 134 heading to Salmon Beach will make your reach for your camera more than once. A simple walk near Bird Island at Pokeshaw Beach will transport you to another world.
The hiking and snowshoeing trails are abundant, not to mention the snowmobile connection to the Northern Odyssey trails. It’s also where you’ll find unique adventures, including dogsledding, river tubing and salmon fishing, to name only a few!
